The Discipleship Formation Program is a year for young people to live in community, to study the Catholic faith with the head and the heart, to develop their personal relationship with Jesus Christ, to forge wholesome lifelong friendships, and to grow in their missionary zeal through evangelization, practical service and ministry.

The program is primarily geared towards Catholic young adults who have completed high school and have yet to make big decisions towards school, work, or vocation (marriage, priesthood, or consecrated life). It can also benefit older Catholic adults who have started on life’s journey but want a chance to reorient themselves, receive a quality Catholic formation, and develop a new confidence for evangelization.

You will receive instruction in courses covering: • Growth in your relationship with Christ • Welcoming and using the gifts of the Holy Spirit • Development of a personal prayer life • Sacred Scripture • The Catechism of the Catholic Church • Understanding the mass • Church teaching on human sexuality • Essentials of evangelization • Many other topics on how to be an authentic Catholic missionary disciple ​ You will participate in intentional activities such as: • Frequent reception of the sacraments • Regular community and personal prayer • Community meals • Household chores • Group activities (games, fitness, reading, et c.) • Outreach projects • Prayer meetings • Retreats

Students are expected to remain at the CSE from Sundays at 6pm to Friday at 4pm, with the exception of certain weekend events. On the weekends, students can go home, to a friend’s home, or to a host home.

The nature of the program would make it impractical to accommodate a married person, and the community guidelines for students could impose significant difficulties on a married persons relationship. If you would like to discuss attending the program as a married person, please contact us directly to discuss your situation.

​Other Christians and people of non-Christian belief are welcome to apply and will be considered, but they must accept that the formation received and community life lived will be Catholic in character and disruptions to providing such formation can't be accommodated. Consideration will be given to those that exhibit a sincere desire to learn about the Catholic faith and do not actively oppose it.

While not outright restricted, device usage and popular media consumption are limited. Students leave their personal electronic devices in their lounges and are encouraged to embrace the freedom this brings them to be more present to others around them (exceptions can be approved in certain circumstances).

Illegal drugs and cannabis are not permitted. If you are a smoker or vaper, reasonable accommodations will be made to allow for smoking or vaping outside, as it is not permitted inside our building. Alcohol is not permitted except with permission for special occasions under supervision of Program Directors.

In close human contact, romantic attractions are inevitable. To minimize distractions during the year, students are required to put the exploration of new romantic relationships on hold during their time in the DFP. If a student is already in a romantic relationship then both partners will need to agree to and abide by the community guidelines.

If this is a barrier, don't let that stop you from applying. We can assist with fundraising tips and other solutions. ​ Tuition is 60% of this fee. As we are a religious school, this portion is considered a donation under the Canada Revenue Agency, and an official charitable receipt will be provided after the end of the calendar year. ​ A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to finalize registration, and payment arrangements for the balance of the costs will be made after the deposit is received.
